Real Madrid capture Chelsea star Eden Hazard on a five-year deal

Hazard's departure marks the end of an era for Chelsea, with the attacker having marked himself as one of the club's all-time greats over seven seasons.

Chelsea have accepted a bid from Real Madrid for star man Eden Hazard in a deal which could see the London club net up to £130 million ($US165 million), according to reports.

"He is among the best five [players] in the world", he added.

This information has put sent all Real Madrid fans into overdrive, as for months the arrival of the Chelsea star has been rumoured, with Zinedine Zidane publicly praising him on more than one occasion and all sorts of comments by the player himself and those around him confirming an exit.

News of Hazard's imminent arrival comes within 48 hours of Real tying up a move for Luka Jovic, Eintracht Frankfurt's free-scoring Serbian worldwide.

Hazard said after Chelsea won the Europa League final against Arsenal that "I think it is a goodbye, but in football you never know".

Hazard's imminent big-money transfer to the Bernabeu is expected to be announced within the next 24 hours, calling time on his hugely successful seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old has made no secret of his desire to join Real Madrid, calling the move a "dream" near the beginning of the 2018-19 season. As a result, the club finished without a trophy last season.

'The memories he leaves us with will not fade. He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club, a wonderful individual to have around and a joy to work with.

It looked like the chance to play for the French legend had dissipated last summer when Zidane left the club following his final Champions League win with the club.

Jovic moved for £62m, signing a six-year contract.
