Sevilla and second-division club Extremadura, where Reyes played this past season, both confirmed the death on Saturday.

Former Sevilla, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Atletico star Reyes is survived by two young daughters with his wife Noelia Lopez, and an 11-year-old son from a previous relationship.

He was most recently playing for Spanish club Extremadura having signed for the club in January. Shattered. I have no words. He went on to lift three-consecutive Europa League titles from 2014.

His teammates and colleagues reacted to the tragic news on social media, with former Sevilla teammate Sergio Ramos tweeting he was "broken, destroyed". Reyes made a serious impact on fans during his time in north London, making over 100 appearances for the club before returning to Spain in 2006. "What a left flank you are going to make, Antonio and you, up there".
