Royal baby meaning: Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry chose Archie

Royal baby meaning: Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry chose Archie

Talking why the couple made a decision to keep their firstborn's name as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Prince Harry and Meghan wanted to pay tribute to Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.

"It's no surprise she named her new baby Archie".

Not only did they skip the Prince and Royal Highness titles, it seems Archie won't take on the honorary title Earl of Dumbarton.

Harry and Meghan hit headlines around the world Wednesday as they not only posed for an official photocall with the tiny royal, but they also revealed his name. Both names are totally new for the British Royal family.

True to character, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have chosen a non-traditional and somewhat unusual name for their first child. Royal baby hysteria has been in full swing since well before April and attempting to keep this kind of secret from the press risks even more relentless media attention going forward.

As for Meghan missing out on the Easter service, well, we'd guess that she just didn't want to attend because she was due to give birth at any moment.

"It may well be it's a name that Meghan is familiar with and again that's why they are using it", said Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty royal magazine.

Harry's supposed "slip-up" came when he was asked who baby Archie most resembles.

After a lot of speculations and anticipation, the royal family announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been blessed with a baby boy.

"Prince Philip was never allowed to call his children by his own surname".

"LET'S GO! Young Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor!"

For Prince William and Prince Harry, tackling mental health hits close to home because of the struggles they endured after the tragic and public death of their mother Princess Diana.

The newborn will also for the next few years be referred to as Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
