Live Caption is a new feature driven by on-device machine learning that does exactly what its name implies: it captions things, live.

First and foremost, Google says that beginning with this update, Android Auto will remember your settings and apps, so when starting your vehicle, it will just begin playing your media and fire up the navigation app that you use.

This is the new home screen, a grid of app icons. Its main use is as a navigation device - you can make it use either Google Maps or Waze by default.

Also, while it's not strictly an Android feature, the Google Assistant is also getting some important new abilities, especially as it pertains to speed. Here's what you need to know about the latest Android Q beta build.

Meanwhile, when it comes to digital wellbeing, Google has seen a huge improvement in its ability helping people wind down and get over the feeling of being addicted to tech using features and tools first introduced in Android 9 Pie.

Your phone can become the ultimate dashboard screen with Google Assistant's upcoming "driving mode". Under Settings, you'll also find a new Location section that gives you more transparency and granular control over the location data you share with apps.

For the first time, Google will be able to push software updates directly to devices (running Android 10 Q), similarly to how Apple directly submits iOS updates to iPhones - no more waiting for device manufacturers or carriers to tinker, test, and evaluate the software. Google says that in the previous year, the number of monthly active Chrome OS users who enabled Android apps on their device grew by 250 percent. One of the Google services that will be receiving a much-needed polishment is Android Auto, the automobile-focused interface of Android, which is receiving a facelift in an attempt to improve user experience.
