AFC Bournemouth vs. Tottenham Hotspur - Football Match Report

AFC Bournemouth vs. Tottenham Hotspur - Football Match Report

It was that kind of day for Tottenham, which lost 1-0 to Bournemouth on Nathan Ake's stoppage time after playing nearly the entire second half with nine men.

Tottenham's task was made all the more hard two minutes before the interval when forward Son Heung-min was sent off for pushing Jefferson Lerma and halftime substitute Juan Foyth lasted 125 seconds before seeing red for a lunging tackle. Mauricio Pochettino's team held the Cherries off for all of it, only to see Bournemouth's Nathan Ake score a stoppage-time victor.

The Premier League's second-to-last matchday of the season kicked off on Friday with Everton's win over Burnley, but it was Saturday's slate that has people buzzing.

"We are third, are competing for the top four and we are in the semi-finals of the Champions League", he said.

And they put in a good display in the first half at the Vitality Stadium.

But an incredibly one-sided contest took a turn on the stroke of half-time as Son saw red. A pair of red cards and a defeat means their place in next season's Champions League is still far from certain. The match starts at 19:30 on 4 May 2019. Despite an early scare as Lucas lobbed wide from 60 yards, the Irishman was in inspired form to keep Spurs at bay time and time again.

The South Korean reacted angrily to an inital tussle with Ryan Fraser and when Lerma tried to pick up the ball once Son had won a free-kick, the forward couldn't help himself.

Juan Foyth was brought on at half-time but was given a red card three minutes after the break. Pawson should have dismissed the erratic Dier and then awarded a penalty against the same man, while Son's push to the chest of Lerma was foolish and needless.

If Tottenham fail to beat Bournemouth and Chelsea win their game in hand against Watford, the Blues would go level on points with their London rivals.
