News Read Robert Mueller's full report here, minus the redactions of course

The Justice Department has released a redacted copy of special counsel Robert Mueller's report into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. But many were nervous about how Trump would react to their testimony and whether it would damage their relationships with him.

Trump appeared to be in a celebratory mood, saying at a White House event with wounded U.S. troops that he was "having a good day" following the report's release, adding "it's called no collusion, no obstruction". There are those who still can not accept the American electorate, using the standards in place at the time of the election, chose Donald Trump to be president over Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Barr responded that his very comments are published in the Mueller report.

Mueller looked at whether Trump's sympathetic messages to Flynn, former campaign manager Paul Manafort and others were meant to limit their cooperation with Mueller's investigation.

Trump became angry and lambasted Sessions for recusing himself from the probe, alleging that Sessions had "let [him] down".

That is the message many will take from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report.

McGahn refused, deciding he would rather resign than trigger what he regarded as a potential repeat of the Saturday Night Massacre firings from Watergate.

The report says the president's actions included "public attacks on the investigation, non-public efforts to control it, and efforts in both public and private to encourage witnesses not to cooperate with the investigation".

Attorney General William Barr said a version of the report with fewer redactions will be made available to a small group of lawmakers.

The release represented a moment of closure almost two years in the making but also the starting bell for a new round of partisan warfare.

As the attorney general acknowledged, a odd confluence of events caused Donald Trump to enter the White House with a cloud over his presidency.

"No Collusion. No Obstruction", it said.

After blasting Sessions and saying he was supposed to protect him, Trump called the upcoming investigation "the worst thing that ever happened to me".

Senate Republicans seemed split on whether Mueller should testify before Congress. At the same time, the report said that investigators were unable to say with confidence that the president was innocent of obstruction. "There never was, by the way, and there never will be", Trump said at a gathering of wounded veterans.

Warren also called redactions in the report "a disgrace" and called on Mueller to testify before Congress. Instead, Barr insisted he would only consult Congress after the redacted report was released.

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee says he'll be issuing a subpoena for the full special counsel report and the underlying materials. We understood coordination to require an agreement-tacit or express-between the Trump Campaign and the Russian government on election interference.

Former FBI Director "Comey did not end the investigation of Flynn, which ultimately resulted in Flynn's prosecution and conviction for lying to the FBI".

The attorney general also said Mueller did not make a "traditional prosecutorial judgement" regarding allegations that U.S. President Donald Trump had obstructed justice.

"The differences are stark between what Attorney-General Barr said on obstruction and what Special Counsel [Robert] Mueller said on obstruction", House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement.

Material from Globe wire services was used in this report.

Mr Flynn told investigators that Mr Trump made requests to find deleted Hillary Clinton emails repeatedly. The attorney general concluded Mueller's findings are "not sufficient" to support a charge.

Trump told Mueller he had "no recollection" of learning in advance about the much-scrutinized Trump Tower meeting between campaign officials and a Russian lawyer. "Accordingly, while this report did not conclude that the president committed a crime, it does not exonerate him".

The Special Counsel team wrote, "We viewed the written answers to be inadequate".

It wasn't just Trump under the microscope.

But Mueller, who interviewed numerous participants in the meeting, said he didn't find that he could bring a case. Nor did Mueller's probe develop evidence that they knew that foreign contributions to campaigns were illegal or other particulars of federal law. The Mueller report described IRA's campaign as "the earliest Russian interference operations identified by the investigation - a social media campaign created to provoke and amplify political and social discord in the United States". Blocked sections appeared on 22 of 182 pages in the obstruction section, and even showed up in the report's table of contents.
