Trump goes after 'Crazy Mueller Report' insisting parts are 'fabricated & totally untrue'

On Thursday night Ryan used CNN's platform to stress that Sanders should resign after the Robert Mueller's Special Counsel report found that Sanders admitted to lying to the press about why President Trump fired former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey in 2017.

"In the immediate aftermath of the firing, the President dictated a press statement suggesting that he had acted based on the [Department of Justice] recommendations, and White House press officials repeated that story", Mueller wrote in his report.

Ryan went further than other reporters by calling for Sanders' ouster, but others also reiterated their concerns about the press secretary on Thursday.

While there are a few exceptions, Mueller's investigation repeatedly supports news reporting that was done on the Russian Federation probe over the last two years and details several instances where the president and his team sought to mislead the public.

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski tweeted, "Sarah Sanders lying and doubling down on it".

Sanders stopped holding daily press briefings past year. He followed that up by pressuring the White House Correspondents' Association to take away Ryan's credentials. "They can't trust what's said from the president's mouthpiece, spokesperson, from the people's house", April said, referencing Sanders' statements regarding the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

The special counsel Robert Mueller's 448-page report on his almost 2-year long investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and Trump's possible obstruction of justice of his probe was released to the public on Thursday.

But the report also said she acknowledged the comment "was not founded on anything".

The next day, May 11, Sanders went even further. She claimed to have heard from "countless" former and current Federal Bureau of Investigation agents. One reporter asked what basis the White House had for that conclusion, given that the FBI's acting director had publicly said that Comey still had the support among the FBI's agents. "I can speak to my own personal experience", she added. And I think that we may have to agree to disagree. She explained to investigators that it was a "slip of the tongue".

Sanders declined to respond to questions from CNN Business on Thursday night.

"If you look at what's in quotations from me, it's that and it's that it was 'in the heat of the moment, ' meaning that it wasn't a scripted talking point", Sanders said. "James Comey was a disgraced leaker who tried to politicize and undermine the very agency he was supposed to run".
