Mulvaney guarantees Americans covered by Obama health care law won't lose coverage

Mulvaney guarantees Americans covered by Obama health care law won't lose coverage

The plans known as association health plans allowed sole proprietors and other business owners to band together to buy insurance at reduced rates. I imagine Trump will tell us why the Republican plan will cost less than Obamacare: "Mexico will pay for it".

About 11.8 million consumers nationwide enrolled in 2018 Obamacare exchange plans, according to the USA government's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Trump administration is working to repeal the law. So this President's decision blind-sided some within the Republican Party.

Sisters and Tea Party members of Atlanta, Georgia, Judy Burel (L) and Janis Haddon (R), protest the Obamacare in front of the U.S. Supreme Court March 27, 2012 in Washington, DC.

Despite the president's confidence in his party's ability to enact a new health care law, congressional Republicans are not so sure. "But we're doing something that is going to be much less expensive than Obamacare for the people. and we're going to have (protections for) pre-existing conditions and will have a much lower deductible".

Bates' ruling comes after an intense week in the courts for the administration's health care policies. On Monday, the Justice Department said in a letter to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals that the entire ACA should be invalidated.

The lawsuit was brought by NY, 10 other states and the District of Columbia a year ago. ABC News could not independently confirm Mulvaney's claim regarding last year's statistics; however, the provision of Affordable Care Act known as the "mandate", which imposed the penalties, was repealed by the Republican tax plan in 2017. He found that administration officials failed to account for coverage losses and other potential harm, and sent the Health and Human Services Department back to the drawing board.

That third Republican senator also told The Hill, "Sometimes, it's easy to write off the Affordable Care Act issues as political, and certainly, there's politics to it".
