Trump Is Fine With Releasing Mueller Report

President Trump now says that special counsel Robert Mueller's final report should be released publicly.

Flood and his team have gamed out the outlines of how the White House would react to different scenarios, based on the extent of Attorney General Bill Barr's disclosure to Congress and whether the findings are exculpatory or damaging to the President. After having won "one of the greatest elections of all time in the history of this country", Trump said, some "man out of the blue" who "never got a vote" has been given authority to a write a partisan report.

If the report proves anticlimactic, says former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a strong Trump ally, "there would no longer be any justification for what the House Dems want to do".

"It's interesting that a man appointed by a deputy and he writes a report, you know, never figured that one out".

Instead, Comey wrote in a New York Times op-ed published Thursday, he hopes for a thorough investigation and a transparent final report where "justice will have prevailed"-providing reassurances to the rule of law".

Trump, of course, nominated Rosenstein, who was confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate in a 94-6 vote.

Trump also criticized, although not by name, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had recused himself from the Russian Federation probe, leaving Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to oversee Mueller's work.

Trump has been investigated for nearly two years, following suspicions that he or his team had improper ties to Moscow. Mueller was not a candidate for president in that race. And Trump and his advisers are considering how to weaponize those possible findings for the 2020 race, according to current and former White House officials and presidential confidants who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

In a recent interview on CBS's "Face the Nation", while noting that he was now an outsider with no privileged information, Bharara said, "I think people should view with some skepticism the notion that gets breathlessly reported every week that the Mueller investigation is coming to an end". "I mean, frankly, I told the House, 'If you want, let them see it'". He will say things like, "I don't care, and tt doesn't bother me" when it does. "I'm not rooting for anything at all, except that the special counsel be permitted to finish his work, charge whatever cases warrant charging and report on his work".

Trump maintained Wednesday that there was "no collusion" between his presidential campaign and Russian Federation.

The Trump campaign - which has recently beefed up its communications team to include a research director and head of surrogates - is also prepared to dive in and respond to whatever surfaces.
