Conflicting reports of Bills-Steelers trade for Antonio Brown

Conflicting reports of Bills-Steelers trade for Antonio Brown

For weeks it's seemed like Brown would be traded by the Steelers, and it looked like it had happened late Thursday night when NFL Media's Ian Rapoport tweeted a deal was in place for him to be dealt to the Bills.

Brown quickly called the report "fake news" via a comment on Instagram.

Reports earlier in the week indicated that the Steelers anticipated a deal being done by Friday.

It should only get harder for the Steelers to find a taker for Brown now that the All-Pro receiver has flexed his muscles.

Antonio Brown wants to be traded, just not to the Buffalo Bills.

Rapoport tweeted again after the Beane comments: "After intense talks that went into last night, and nearly getting there on trade compensation, Buffalo says they are out".

This could invite speculation that the Patriots, who were previously reported as off limits in trade talks, may suddenly give it a shot. He said he wanted to go to a contender and the Bills finished 6-10 last season. Entering his second season, quarterback Josh Allen now has a markedly inexperienced and unproven group of pass-catchers, led by wide receivers Zay Jones and Robert Foster.

There are also additional contract concerns with adding Brown, who likely wants to rip up his old deal and create a new one with his new team.

I mean they went on & on & on & on tirelessly bashing Buffalo. The Bills are still expected to address wide receiver in free agency and the draft to give second-year quarterback Josh Allen more help in 2019.

In 15 games last season, Brown had 1,297 yards receiving on 104 catches with a league-leading 15 touchdowns.
