Blue Jackets acquire goalie Keith Kinkaid from Devils

Blue Jackets acquire goalie Keith Kinkaid from Devils

The conditional pick in Monday's trade would see Winnipeg's fourth-round selection in 2022 go to NY if the Jets with the Stanley Cup this spring.

The new Blue Jacket didn't look completely adjusted on the ice, which is to be expected, but he managed to get three shots on goal while playing just over 19 minutes, with about five of those coming on the power play.

Defenceman Cody Ceci, who has been rumoured to be on the move as well before Monday's trade deadline, agrees. Columbus will need someone to help Artemi Panarin and the Blue Jackets maintain a playoff spot as the season draws to its final phases.

The Rangers have now traded all three of their pending unrestricted free agents, but there is still time for deals to be made before the deadline hits.

The road to rebuilding kept marching forward, as the Rangers dealt defenseman Adam McQuaid to the Blue Jackets just about one hour before Monday's 3 p.m. deadline, getting fourth- and seventh-round picks in return. Instead, he has seemingly gone all-in on the Blue Jackets winning their first playoff series in franchise history and a long run this spring.

His best National Hockey League season was 2015-16, when he scored 20 goals and 44 assists in 81 games with Arizona.

He was originally drafted 89th overall by Philadelphia in 2010.

First, the Ottawa Senators traded Ryan Dzingel and a 2019 seventh-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Anthony Duclair and a pair of second-round selections in 2020 and 2021. No, Sergei Bobrovsky hasn't been traded, but they've landed veteran Keith Kinkaid from the New Jersey Devils for a fifth-round pick in 2022. Columbus will send an additional draft pick to Ottawa if it's able to sign Duchene to a contract extension.

The moved cleared the way for the Devils to recall goaltending prospect Mackenzie Blackwood from Binghamton of the AHL and join Cory Schneider in the nets.

McQuaid was sent to the Rangers from Boston for a pair of draft picks prior to the start of the regular season.

Kinkaid, strictly a backup up until then, stepped in last season for a banged-up and ineffective Cory Schneider and was instrumental in helping the Devils reach the postseason. At the same time, it's not so much where we are in the standings.
