Twitter reacts to J.Lo's Motown tribute

Twitter reacts to J.Lo's Motown tribute

During her performance, Lopez touched on all of the classics, such as "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone", "War", "Square Biz", "Another Star, Do You Love Me?", "Please Mr. Postman", "Dancing In The Street", "The Best Things In Life Are Free", and "My Girl".

On social media, many folks noted that the choice wasn't a great stylistic match for J.Lo, and others wondered why contemporary black singers, who built their careers on the legacy of Motown, hadn't been chosen instead, especially during Black History Month.

The singer, who now has a residency in Las Vegas, shared how Grammy producers and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy were "thrilled" about her tribute.

"This summer I am celebrating", Lopez says. However, if you ask a mid-60's black dude from Detroit, they may not agree, and that seems to be the general consensus on Twitter. Admonishing people to "stop hating", he said the critics should "get your perspective together and think about the hate you're spreading".

Jennifer Lopez has responded to criticism that she shouldn't have taken centre stage during the Motown tribute at the Grammys.

'It's just a small amount of shows, but we'll be out all through June and July, I think, ' Jennifer said. Though she has been performing regularly in Las Vegas with her "All I Have" residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, this will be her first tour since 2012.

But considering the barriers that black artists from the Motown era faced to get recognition, the choice seems especially thoughtless. I could cry. It's such a good moment. Huffington Post editor Phillip Lewis posted, "I'll never understand why they didn't choose someone Black for a MOTOWN tribute".

"They [Grammy producers] know how much I have been influenced by that music, and so it was a natural fit for them", the "Second Act" star shared.

'You gotta do what's in your heart'. Motown was music for everybody.
