Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren launches 2020 presidential bid

Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren launches 2020 presidential bid

Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on a cold Saturday afternoon to an enthusiastic crowd gathered in Lawrence, Massachusetts, as she announced her campaign intentions for 2020.

Warren announced her campaign in her home state of MA at a mill site where largely immigrant factory workers went on strike about 100 years ago, a fitting forum for the longtime consumer advocate to advance her platform.

She'll be introduced by Congressman Joe Kennedy III, a fellow Massachusetts Democrat who will also endorse her candidacy, according to a source familiar with his plans.

Warren introduced her campaign by telling the story of Lawrence, where laborers - many of whom were immigrants - toiled under awful working conditions.

Weaving specific policy prescriptions into her remarks, from Medicare for All to the elimination of Washington "lobbying as we know it", Warren avoided taking direct jabs at President Donald Trump.

"Now when I talk about this, some rich guys scream, 'class warfare!' Well let me tell you something: These same rich guys have been waging class warfare against hardworking people for decades", the senator added.

I think Warren would make a great president - she is a real fighter for the working people of our nation.

"This is the fight of our lives, the fight to build an America where dreams are possible and an America that works for everyone", she continued.

The Democratic Party has many alternatives to Warren for the 2020 presidential race.

"Elizabeth Warren has already been exposed as a fraud by the Native Americans she impersonated and disrespected to advance her professional career, and the people of MA she deceived to get elected", campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a statement. In all, the race for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination may be the most crowded field in USA history.

Ahead of the 2016 election, Democracy for America and MoveOn.org Political Action launched the "Run Warren Run" campaign to push the senator to enter the presidential race.

What issues will Warren's campaign focus on?

To announce the results of the DNA test, Warren used a campaign-style video that tried to directly address questions about her background. However, New York Sen.

"I can't go back", Warren told The Washington Post.

"All she's doing is trying to protect us when the story's twisted and, of course as usual, it's gets pushed on things like 'Oh, she said she's Native American.' Like, who cares about that?" she said.

Warren has been a frontrunner among democrats in the presidential running for months now. But I want to be clear. She meant to spend Sunday in Iowa, where the leadoff caucuses will be the first test of candidates' viability. "I was a Republican because I thought that those were the people who best supported markets", she said.

Immediately following her Lawrence announcement, the senator embarked on a seven-state organizing tour to drum up support for her campaign in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina, Georgia, Nevada and California - must-win early primary states.
