National Basketball Association trade deadline: Rockets dealing Stauskas, Baldwin

National Basketball Association trade deadline: Rockets dealing Stauskas, Baldwin

The Kings receive guard Alec Burks from the Cavs, while the Cavs acquire Houston's Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss along with a 2019 first-round draft pick and a 2022 second-round pick from Houston.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded Alec Burks to the Sacramento Kings, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. They were rumored to be offering Knight and a first as their primary package to do just that, and they banked those chips in this deal.

The 26-year-old Barnes, who has a $25 million option for next season, played in the Mavericks' 99-93 home victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. Knight has one year left on his deal worth $15.6 million. They've essentially turned Korver into three drafts picks.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the National Basketball Association trade call has not yet been completed.

The Rockets and Cavaliers were discussing a potential Burks trade for quite some time.

Shumpert is the headliner in this deal and is a significant addition for the Rockets.

The move will likely lead to Bogdan Bogdanovic sliding into the starting backcourt next to De'Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield, with Burks coming off the bench for an added scoring punch.

He entered the day averaging 17.8 points and 4.3 rebounds a game for Dallas, where he has spent the past two-plus seasons after beginning his pro career with the Golden State Warriors. The former North Carolina standout grew up in Houston and has appeared in 120 career National Basketball Association games (44 starts) since the Kings selected him with the No. 15 overall pick in 2017. Shumpert is also a fashion guy - another reason why he should fit well with Chris Paul and James Harden.
