On Wednesday, the House Intelligence Committee also made headlines for voting to provide testimonies from more than 50 witnesses who are connected to the Russian Federation investigation to the Department of Justice and Mueller.
Schiff indicated that the panel had uncovered evidence of such vulnerabilities while under Republican leadership but neglected to pursue it. Michael Conaway of Texas and Chris Stewart of Utah, confirmed the outcome of the vote, which took place behind closed doors.
During his State of the Union address Tuesday night, Trump warned House Democrats he would turn off the spigot on legislative cooperation if they insisted on launching the very kinds of probes Schiff announced just hours later.
The intelligence panel's new chairman, California Rep. Adam Schiff, had long said that sending Mueller the transcripts from the probe into Russian election interference would be one of his first actions.
Asked Wednesday about the progressing Russian Federation investigation and Schiff's promise of a deep investigation that could include Trump's personal financial dealings, the president was dismissive.
The committee will deal with matters directly related to Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election and possible connections between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
However, that wasn't the only move against Trump made by the Democratic-controlled committee Wednesday.
The panel has previously released select transcripts to the Special Counsel, including that of Trump's longtime friend Roger Stone and Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen.
Schiff also told reporters Wednesday that the House Intelligence Committee will not be "intimidated or threatened" by Trump's comments. But Schiff said Wednesday morning that the interview had been postponed to February 28 "in the interests of the investigation".
"Unfortunately, these and numerous other avenues of inquiry were not completed during the last Congress", Schiff said in his statement. Schiff spokesman Patrick Boland declined to elaborate. The court's docket doesn't contain any details about the nature of the document.
Since he testified in 2017, Cohen has turned on the president, cooperating with Mueller's probe and a separate investigation in NY.
Cohen was convicted of crimes that included paying off a former porn star and a Playboy model before the 2016 election to keep them quiet about affairs they alleged they had with Trump. Stone is also charged with obstructing the House probe by encouraging one of his associates, NY radio host Randy Credico, to refuse to testify before the House panel in an effort to hide Stone's false statements. The transmission of the transcripts to Mueller, expected immediately, will give him full access to all of the committee's interviews.
The committee also voted in September to release all of its more than 50 witness transcripts to the public, pending a declassification review, now underway, by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
It is unclear if Mueller has since requested any other transcripts, or if he has already seen any of them. The witnesses include the president's son Donald Trump Jr., as well as his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
"In other words, prosecutors don't indict people for perjury without an official transcript", she said.
