Chris Christie's Advice to Trump on Mueller: Stay Quiet

Chris Christie's Advice to Trump on Mueller: Stay Quiet

Christie said he warned Trump beforehand that "if you're going to do this, you'd better have an exit plan". Christie also addresses Bob Woodward's "shoddy reporting", saying it was "not the work of America's greatest investigative reporter". "I hope you don't mind!" the comedian said to his conservative guest.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told host Stephen Colbert on Tuesday's "The Late Show" that he would be a better president than Donald Trump.

Christie wrote that Kushner joined in to back Trump's side, saying, "That's right, firing Flynn ends the whole Russian Federation thing".

Without directly naming Kushner, Christie slammed the Trump administration for having a "revolving door of deeply flawed individuals-amateurs, grifters, weaklings, convicted and unconvicted felons-who were hustled into jobs they were never suited for, sometimes seemingly without so much as a background check via Google or Wikipedia".

Christie said it hurts him "personally" when Trump undermines democracy by attacking the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

When asked whether he thought Kushner was responsible for his ouster due to their grudge, Christie was quick to point out the grudge was with his father Charles, whom he prosecuted for tax evasion among other things.

"It's one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted...and I was the US attorney in New Jersey". "He admitted the crimes". "And so what am I supposed to do as a prosecutor? Do you hold the grudge and say, 'He said it once, it makes him an terrible person, I'm not going to deal with him?' If we do that in politics with every person who goes over the line, we're going to be eating dinner alone", Christie said. "I mean If a guy hires a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, and videotapes it, and then sends the videotape to his sister to attempt to intimidate her from testifying before a grand jury, do I really need any more justification than that?" Jared Kushner, right, in 2017.

'Once you've got this in your blood, it's hard to get rid of...'

"I had been running against him and trying to beat him for however long, six to eight months, however long that was", Christie explained.
