Pacers star Victor Oladipo suffers ‘serious’ knee injury that could end season

Pacers star Victor Oladipo suffers ‘serious’ knee injury that could end season

After learning the All-Star guard faces season-ending surgery for a ruptured quad tendon in his right knee, Oladipo's teammates quickly banded together in hopes of surprising the National Basketball Association again.

Victor Oladipo left Wednesday night's game vs the Raptors with a knee injury, and it looks like he could be out quite a while. The post read, "Injury update: After suffering a serious injury to his right knee, Victor Oladipo will have an MRI tomorrow and an update will be provided then".

An MRI taken Thursday revealed the injury, and Oladipo will undergo surgery at a date to be determined. He leads the team in scoring this season at 19.2 points per game. Now, the third-best team in the Eastern Conference may have to push ahead without him for a much longer stretch.

Oladipo had to be taken off the court on a stretcher in the second quarter after collapsing while chasing down Pascal Siakam.

The Pacers managed to pull out 110-106 win over the East-leading Raptors on Wednesday, thanks to a 23-point, 15-rebound night from Thaddeus Young and five other players who scored in double digits. "Obviously. We'll see what tomorrow shows and go from there", Oladipo said in statement released through the team.

Coach Nate McMillan said nobody had told him if the two injuries were related.

Oladipo earned All Star honors for the first time last season, in his first year with the Pacers following the trade from Oklahoma City. "But we want to keep fighting for him". IN entered play on Wednesday 31-15 and third in the Eastern Conference standings.

Serge Ibaka led the way for Toronto with 23 points and 11 rebounds, almost matching Pacers forward Thaddeus Young's 23-point, 15-rebound night.

Pacers: Visits Memphis on Saturday, seeking their fourth straight win over the Grizzlies.
