Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning Sunday afternoon for London and Middlesex County, with frigid temperatures expected to continue all day Monday. Winds from the northwest at 20 km/h and gusting to 40.

There will be a low of -29 with a wind chill of -35 in the evening and -40 overnight.

Our high is -16, but will feel like -30 with the wind chill in the morning. The highest temperatures of the weekend will occur during the morning hours, as many places will reach the mid and upper 50s.

Risks are greatest for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter, the warning said.

"Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill", the agency says.
