Ghana: Government Condemns Murder of Tiger Eye PI Undercover Journalist

Ahmed, described by family and work colleagues as an affable young man ready always to lend a hand, was gunned down in his vehicle Wednesday night at Madina in Accra by two ride-by shooters.

Explaining his opinion on the matter, Hank Johnson who is the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 4th congressional district said the value of Ahmed Suale's work and America's principles of freedom of the press warrant that it gets involved to promptly investigate the matter. Security agencies said they have launched an investigation into the killing.

The Minister, on behalf of the government, expressed condolences to the family of the victim, the organisation he worked for and the media fraternity in general.

The documentary was based on an investigation by a group of journalists along with Ahmed Husein.

Ahmed was reportedly shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck night at Madina a suburb of Accra.




"The alleged murder comes in the wake of reports of threats on members of Anas" team following last year's investigative documentary on bribery and corruption in Ghana and African football at large. After its airing, government legislator Kennedy Agyapong called Hussein-Suale "dangerous", shared photos of him and told viewers he would pay for them to "beat him".

"I expect the police to bring to book, as soon as possible, the perpetrators of this heinous crime", said President Afuko-Addo on Twitter.

"That boy that's very risky, he lives here in Madina". The Confederation of African Football, the continent's top soccer body, banned or suspended almost two dozen referees and officials because of Anas' team's work.

Appeal Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of the suspected killers of Ahmed. Fourteen officials were exonerated.
