May will face confidence motion in her govt 'soon', says Corbyn

Sir John reiterated his support for a second referendum on Brexit, insisting it would be "morally reprehensible" if the government allowed the country to crash out of the European Union without a deal.

Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable said it would be "outrageous and unforgivable" if a no-deal Brexit was allowed to happen, adding: "I think Parliament will take control of this process, will insist that we pursue the option of no Brexit".

But he opened the door to the vote taking place before the end of the week as he said: "It is going to be soon, don't worry about that".

Corbyn declined to say whether a Labour manifesto for a snap election would promise to deliver Brexit, arguing that this would be up to party processes, but strongly indicated his preference would be to depart with a deal that keeps the United Kingdom in a customs union and with access to the single market.

Mrs May said the United Kingdom risks crashing out of the European Union without a deal or, if MPs are "unwilling" to face the uncertainty of no deal, then the United Kingdom may not leave at all.

He this could happen by cancelling Article 50 - which he noted would be "resented by lots of people" - or via a second referendum.

Hinting the March 29 Article 50 deadline could be extended, Hunt said: "If this deal is rejected, ultimately what we may end up with is not a different type of Brexit but Brexit paralysis". Now it is our turn to deliver for you.

"Some of you put your trust in the political process for the first time in decades".

"Doing so would be a catastrophic and unforgivable breach of trust in our democracy", May wrote in the Sunday Express.

"The idea that if MPs vote down the deal, we head to no-deal has always been a false threat and the Foreign Secretary has now effectively admitted it".

My message to Parliament this weekend is simple: it is time to forget the games and do what is right for our country.

Mrs May was boosted on Thursday by two Tory backbenchers - her former policy adviser George Freeman, and Trudy Harrison - indicating they would back her deal as well as by a call from Japanese PM Shinzo Abe for the United Kingdom to avoid a no-deal.

He told Sky News's Sophy Ridge On Sunday he talks to Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson "quite regularly" about no-deal Brexit planning.

Mr Grayling also talked down reports of calling in military chiefs to help plan for a no-deal divorce, but admitted some Ministry of Defence staff were being seconded.

The Transport Secretary added that the millions who voted to Leave the European Union would feel "cheated" and putting a stop to Britain's withdrawal from the EU could end centuries of "moderate" politics the United Kingdom has enjoyed since the English Civil War.
