Wisconsin Teen Safe after Escaping Three-month Kidnapping Ordeal

Daphne Ronning told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Patterson's parents moved to Gordon about 15 years ago. He said a search warrant is now being served on the Gordon home and authorities are also investigating several cars that belong to Patterson, who he said has "zero" criminal history. She says she and her husband once caught them siphoning gas.

"He seemed like a quiet kid", she said. Jayme was skinny and dirty, wearing shoes too big for her feet, but appeared outwardly OK, the neighbors said.

- Jayme Closs's family was emotional Thursday night after the 13-year-old girl missing since October was found near Gordon, Wisconsin.

At a news conference Friday, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald identified 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson as the man suspected in the crimes.

"I could tell you the suspect planned his actions and took many steps to hide his identity from law enforcement", Fitzgerald said.

"I have a gut feeling she's (Jayme's) still alive, " Fitzgerald said at the time.

They rushed to Kasinskas' home, where Kasinskas says 911 was called.

The neighbor shouted, "This is Jayme Closs!"

Sheriff Fitzgerald said Patterson was not home when Jayme Closs escaped and may have been out looking for her when he was arrested.

Authorities spent months searching for her and received thousands of tips, to no avail until Thursday.

Kasinskas called 911 to report the girl had been found after another neighbor out walking her dog encountered Jayme and brought her to Kasinskas' house. "She just yelled, 'Please help me!"

The Star Tribune reported that Town of Gordon resident Kristin Kasinskas heard a knock on her door on Thursday afternoon.

Minutes later police arrested the man she identified as her captor, Jake Thomas Patterson, and have charged him with abducting Closs and fatally shooting her parents.

"I thought, 'Good for her she escaped, ' " he said.

"Tonight, we actually got false news again this afternoon and I really had my hopes up then", Sue Allard said. Smart was rescued nine months later after witnesses recognized her abductors from an "America's Most Wanted" episode. She was found Thursday in a town about an hour's drive away after approaching a woman walking her dog, saying she'd been held against her will. Jayme was nowhere to be found.

A woman who helped a Wisconsin girl who'd been missing for three months following her parents' deaths says the girl told her she'd been held against her will.

It said she was located near the town of Gordon, close to Lake Superior and approximately 75 miles (120 kilometers) north of her home in rural Barron, Wisconsin.

"She said that this person's name was Jake Patterson, he killed my parents and took me", Kasinskas said.

During the 20 minutes Jayme was in their home, Peter and Kristin Kasinskas said they tried to make her feel more comfortable.

But Kasinskas said Jayme told her she had been held in the Gordon area - near Kasinskas' home - by someone who killed her parents on the night she disappeared.

Jayme's parents were killed in October at the family's home near Barron and Jayme went missing.

The girl gave authorities a description of a vehicle, and a patrol sergeant found Patterson driving a auto that matched the description a short distance away, down the road from the Gordon home, Fitzgerald said at a news conference Friday.

Jayme has been medically cleared and released from hospital, but has yet to be reunited with her family.
