Few Democrat Senators Are Against The BDS Movement

The long slog means that reform may have to wait until President Donald Trump leaves office ― even though some of the provisions in the bill are meant to rein conflicts of interest and corruption that he is accused of.

Congressional Democrats oppose the wall.

Trump has refused to back down from his demand for a wall.

On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY told fellow Democrats he would vote to block debate on the measure until McConnell agrees to take up House-passed bills to reopen the closed government departments. In his remarks, McConnell rattled off a list of prominent Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer who he said had previously backed border security legislation "with enthusiasm" in 2006. They reiterated their call for Trump and Senate Republicans to reopen the government while Congress debates the "expensive and ineffective wall". Some 800,000 federal workers are about to miss their first paycheck, and money for programs including food stamps and federal housing assistance is at risk of drying up after funding for a quarter of the government ran out December 22.

After Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) delayed until Thursday afternoon the second procedural vote on a bill that would punish boycotts of Israel, Palestinian rights groups that have condemned the legislation as "unconstitutional" kept up urgent calls for Americans to pressure their senators to block the measure again.

An effort in the Senate to force President Donald Trump to impose new sanctions on Syria is getting caught up in the stalemate over the partial US government shutdown as top Democrats said they'd move to block any legislation that doesn't reopen the government. Democratic leaders have offered $1.3 billion for bolstering border security more broadly, rather than a wall.

"Anti-Semitism can't be tolerated in any way, shape, or form", he said.

Imagine the outrage if Democrats introduced a bill that would protect state and local governments who wanted to refuse to do business with Christian organizations because those organizations don't support gay marriage and Republicans refused to vote for the bill. They tweeted this weekend that the Senate should postpone consideration of any legislation that does not pertain to reopening the government.

"The notion that he's going to walk away with nothing is not real", said Senator Marco Rubio of Florida. "Reopen all the government agencies unrelated to border security and let's continue to work to resolve our differences", the New York Democrat said. "There was a very negative reaction by the American public", Hoyer said.

The United States faces a looming crisis - that, at least, was a point on which Democrats and Republicans agreed Tuesday night in a pair of televised addresses during primetime.

McConnell spokesman Don Stewart said in response, "It would be a stunning reversal for Sen".

"The president thinks people can just ask their father for money", she said outside the White House. "We've never had a better ally", the Democratic lawmaker stated.

The most outspoken critic has been Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders who slammed the introduction of the bill in the midst of a government now in its third week.
