Jamie Redknapp backs Manchester United to make the top four

Jamie Redknapp backs Manchester United to make the top four

Paul Pogba says Manchester United players are "enjoying themselves" amid interim coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's ideal start and feels they are "coming back" after their underwhelming beginning to the season.

"That is a top, top performance from a midfielder because it is all-round - it is work-rate, it is unsafe in the box, winning headers, winning tackles and there is no showboating", he said of Pogba. "It is just a reaction of all of the players and everyone is enjoying themselves", said Pogba.

The change in mood around United in the 12 days since Mourinho was sacked is palpable, no more so in the performances of Pogba who was discarded from the Portuguese's starting line-up for his final three league games in charge. The style of play has been significantly different to that displayed during most of Mourinho's time at the club, and Pogba feels Solskjaer's tactics now have United playing how they want to.

Rashford was believed to have been brought off due to a groin problem, but Liverpool FC legend Carragher was full of praise for the England striker following his sparkling display at Old Trafford. "That's how we want to play, we want to attack, the manager wants to attack, and that's what we do on the pitch". "I've just gone about the job as I experienced it as a player, and a coach", added Solskjaer. He has started two games and come off the bench at the beginning of the second half in another. One of many United players who looked lost under Mourinho, Pogba was at the heart of all that was good about this United display.

United had Eric Bailly sent off for a challenge on Ryan Fraser in the 79th minute and Solskjaer had no complaints about the decision, adding: "Eric won't complain either - he knows he's mistimed that one".

Solskjaer was full of appreciation for Pogba's performance whilst offering a hint of what he doesn't want to see from the former Juventus midfielder.

And Matic began the move for United's third when he picked out Anthony Martial's run and the Frenchman's cross with the outside of his boot was turned home by Rashford.

Eric Bailly made an excellent block to prevent King from scoring a second for Bournemouth 20 minutes from time and moments later, Lukaku made his return to the team as he took the place of Rashford, who suffered a slight groin strain.

He was also inches away from completing a hat-trick when Asmir Begovic tipped his shot on to a post.
