US Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg Released From Hospital After Surgery

US Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg Released From Hospital After Surgery

A spokeswoman for the court, Kathy Arberg, said Sunday that Ginsburg had resumed work while still in NY at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

The court announced last week that there was "no evidence of any remaining disease".

"Justice Ginsburg was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is recuperating at home", Kathy Arberg said in a statement on Wednesday.

The nodules on her lung were found during X-rays and other tests Ginsburg had after she fractured ribs in a fall in her Supreme Court office on November 7, the court said.

The court will reconvene on January 7 following its winter break.

The 85-year-old is the most senior liberal justice on the court.

Ginsburg has recovered from previous medical issues.

The projected date of Ginsburg's discharge from the hospital and her return to the court are unknown at this time.

"If she doesn't need anything but the surgery, it is a very good sign", Lazar said. In 2009, routine followup screening after Ginsburg's colorectal cancer 10 years earlier detected a lesion on her pancreas. No additional treatment is now planned, it said.

The two malignant nodules were "discovered incidentally" during tests to treat her rib fractures from that fall, the court said.

She has said she would like to continue serving on the high court until she's 90.

Why was she in hospital?

Ginsburg, who was appointed by president Bill Clinton in 1993, is one of four liberals on the nine-member court. Felicity Jones now stars as a young Ginsburg in the biopic "On the Basis of Sex".

Despite various health concerns, Ginsburg has never missed arguments.
