Bill O’Reilly Slammed for Tweet on Ginsburg After Surgery

Bill O’Reilly Slammed for Tweet on Ginsburg After Surgery

Doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital in NY performed a lobectomy, removing one of the five lobes of the lung.

Ms Ginsburg is resting comfortably and no further treatment is planned. Arberg said that according to the thoracic surgeon, Dr. Valerie Rusch, "both nodules removed during surgery were found to be malignant". (Ginsburg cracked three ribs after falling in her office, the Associated Press reported, forcing her to miss a welcoming ceremony for Justice Brett Kavanaugh).

It was not her first time dealing cancer, and the news prompted many questions about the 85-year-old justice's well-being.

The Supreme Court Justice had cancerous nodules removed from her lungs on Friday, according to a statement from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Ginsburg has said before that she has no plans of retiring anytime soon.

Ginsburg has a history of cancers, having undergone surgery for colorectal cancer in 1999.

Buzzfeed's Chris Geidner tweeted out a health update from the Supreme Court. The court won't hear arguments again until January 7.

The statement continued: 'Post-surgery, there was no evidence of any remaining disease.

If the justice hadn't fractured her ribs, Liu said, it's possible that doctors wouldn't have found the nodules and that they might have gotten larger.

She was treated at George Washington University hospital in Washington D.C., where the tests were carried out which led to Friday's surgery in her native NY. According to NPR, the cancer was discovered at that time.

Stiles says that for stage 1 lung cancer, the survival rate is around 80 to 95 percent, but for stage 2 the survival rate drops significantly, to 57 percent over 5 years.

Ginsburg also broke two ribs in a fall in 2012 and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery two years later.

In the statement, the Supreme Court said the nodules were malignant and were discovered during tests performed right after a fall in November.

While doctors will have to see the final pathology report to know exactly what kind of tumors Ginsburg had and how aggressive they were, her previous bouts with cancer were so long ago they're unlikely to be related, Giaccone said. She is released from the hospital the following day. However, Ginsburg has given no indication that she will be leaving the court while Mr. Trump is in office.
