Unai Emery says Arsenal are close behind Liverpool in Premier League

Unai Emery says Arsenal are close behind Liverpool in Premier League

The Wales global has spent over ten years at Arsenal, playing nearly 350 games for the club, and helping the Gunners win three FA Cup titles.

Arsenal chief Unai Emery was delighted with his team's display but is now fully focused on Wednesday's trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

On came Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey at the interval and the changes helped to turn the contest again.

However, after the break four of Alli's six touches then came from the second-half kick-off and from the restart after Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira all scored.

That Arsenal finish strongly, overwhelming often exhausted opponents, is undeniable.

But Emery said he didn't know when Ozil started struggling with the problem this week, or whether he was even at the Emirates to watch the game.

It's also true that the intensity with which Arsenal press wears teams down, and that was in evidence here.

"We are now in terms of points, performances and the goals we're scoring, with Chelsea and Tottenham". After scoring Spurs' game-tying goal in the first half, Eric Dier put his finger to his lips to shush Arsenal's home fans, causing a scuffle between both sets of players.

Exhausted legs may even have contributed to Jan Vertonghen's lunge for the ball that earned a second yellow card five minutes from time. They have "won" 11 of those second halves.

Arsenal hero Emmanuel Petit has questioned the future of Mesut Ozil at the club.

Pochettino refused to blame his compatriot after the game, saying: 'How many players on halfway line miss the pass?

The manager had to deny claims of a falling out when Ozil sat out a win over West Ham in August, citing illness.

Yesterday's enthralling north London derby was sadly overshadowed by some unsavoury actions towards Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"It was unbelievable but he does that in training all the time", said Ramsey of the first-time strike that made it 2-2.
