Mother and son reunited 31 years after alleged kidnapping

Mother and son reunited 31 years after alleged kidnapping

Allan Mann has filed several lawsuits over the years that allege discrimination by his employers and the apartment complex where he has lived with his son since 2004, according to the Courant.

The arrest brought an end to efforts by police in Canada and the United States to find the boy who went missing 31 years ago. "He was under the impression that his mother had died shortly after birth".

"Words couldn't express what I felt", an emotional Lyneth Mann-Lewis told reporters in Toronto on Monday, just days after learning her ex, Allan Mann, and son, Jermaine, had been found in CT.

Mr. Mann's father, 66 year old Allan Mann, is facing charges of making false statements in the US.

It's unclear if he has obtained an attorney, and he's expected to be extradited to Canada, where he may face additional charges.

Mann-Lewis said she cooked for her son and recounted the details of her life during hours-long conversations at her hotel. "Believe that all things are possible".

In an emotional statement, Jamaican-Canadian, Lyneth Mann-Lewis, mother of Jermaine Mann said, "Our constant worrying is finally over".

Jermaine had moved out about a year ago but still came to visit, she said.

Banks says Toronto police also conducted investigations but could not find a connection to Canada and their "leads went cold".

Allan Mann Jr. appeared briefly Friday in Federal Court in Hartford.

"I was sitting there wondering in my mind what was going to happen", she said. Jermaine's case had been the fixation of Ted Davis, an investigator at Missing Children Society of Canada.

"And since his son is a victim in this case, we can't disclose any information about him", Department of Justice spokesman Thomas Carson said on Monday.

The two countries chose to reprise the manhunt in 2016 - and US Marshals found relatives in August who revealed the pair had lived in the Bronx in the 1990s, then moved to CT under assumed names, according to the Hartford Courant.

Later that month, a forensic specialist from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children analysed an old photo of Allan Mann and the 2015 photo on DeSouza's CT driver's license and determined they were likely the same person, the warrant said. I touched him and said, 'Oh my God, my baby, " the woman said while addressing a news conference.

Among them was the Missing Children Society of Canada. He hugged me and he kissed me and we held for a long time'.

Now Mann-Lewis was coming to CT to see her son, a grown man working for the state of CT.

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said that his agency had held a conference on fugitive training in 2016 and said this very case was discussed with USA law enforcement officials. "During all these years her strength and her courage always gave us hope and spurred us to never give up".
