Mourinho rules out United return for Ibrahimovic

Mourinho rules out United return for Ibrahimovic

The goalless run of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has grabbed the eyeballs of fans and critics alike, with former United star Lee Sharpe accusing the Belgian global of having the worst touch ever.

Instead, he backed Belgian Lukaku, who has scored as many goals (four) in two worldwide matches as he has in 13 for United this season, to rediscover his scoring touch soon.

At this stage last season he had scored five times in three Belgium games, but he had also netted a remarkable 11 goals in 13 appearances for his club.

United have been locked in negotiations with Martial's representatives for over six months and the club had recently grown confident that the 22-year-old would sign a long-term deal.

United lost 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks largely to a lethargic performance from Mourinho's side, who only arrived at the stadium 50 minutes before kickoff after being delayed due to traffic. "But they have the manager and the players and they will be putting pressure on themselves to get it right", he said.

"Could I play (Marcus) Rashford there?"

Step forward Romelu Lukaku who, according to journalist Neil Custis, has been dumped by Jose Mourinho for the game against his former club Everton after failing to find the back of the net in nine of his last 10 matches in all competitions. "My comment is only one: everybody knows how good he is, everybody knows how important he is for Manchester United", he said.

"One day he will score and one day his confidence levels will be back to normal, which clearly they are not".

ASHLEY YOUNG was disappointed but not disheartened by Manchester United's Champions League defeat to Juventus, with the Reds captain keen to take the positives from an improved second-half display he believes deserved a draw. They need great players, great movements, creative football to identify themselves to a player or a team.

José Mourinho has come under heavy fire this season, both from United fans and from the wider footballing community.

They face Everton at Old Trafford and travel to Bournemouth in the Premier League, before they tackle Juventus again in Turin on November 7th.
