Manchester United didn't play - David Luiz blasts Mourinho tactics

Gary Lineker took to social media to praise Ross Barkley after the midfielder netted Chelsea FC's equaliser in their thrilling 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday. As a result of the Blues remaining undefeated in league play, assistant Marco Ianni celebrated with a fist pump in Mourinho's face.

The incident generated headlines as the United boss said he confronted Ianni, while Maurizio Sarri was disappointed to see it unfold. We controlled their triggers - [Eden] Hazard was controlled and I've never seen Jorginho play so little like he did today, so we were completely in control.

"Don't do what everyone does and say 'it's Mourinho who does things.' I don't know his name, I don't need to know". "Sarri said he would solve the problem with his assistant internally and he then came to me and apologised and I said if he really meant it then okay, I accept".

"In the second half we dropped more, we let them have more possession and we made some silly mistakes so they got some counter-attacks".

The home fans responded by chanting "f*** off Mourinho" - as they had done throughout the game - at a manager who three Premier League titles for the club during two separate spells.

He had said before the game that he would respect his old club by not over-celebrating, but felt he did not receive the same courtesy in return. It was Sarri who took the sting out of the situation by seeking out Mourinho and attempting to find out what had happened. We were on the wrong side of the situation.

Sarri also said he would speak to Ianni again on Sunday.

"[It was] different because against Newcastle, in the first half we weren't there".

At the back, Mourinho is likely to stick with the same four he started at the Bridge in Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.

"We are happy we have gone this many games without losing, but we are keeping on working hard to try and improve our team because it is just the beginning".

And there was enough in this game to anger and delight him - a bad opening goal, when Pogba lost his man, a stirring fightback, a performance which highlighted Martial's brilliant potential and then the gut-wrenching Barkley equaliser, just as the points seemed to be in the bag.
