Brett Kavanaugh Accuser Comes Forward

Brett Kavanaugh Accuser Comes Forward

Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) in July that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school in the 1980s came forward in a Washington Post story Sunday.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", Christine Blasey Ford told The Washington Post in her first interview. "I hope the attacks and shaming of her will stop and this will be treated with the seriousness it deserves". She says that he pinned her to the bed and groped her while trying to take her clothes off, and when she tried to yell he put a hand over her mouth.

She says both Kavanaugh and Judge were "stumbling drunk", and Judge eventually jumped on top of both of them, allowing her to struggle free and lock herself in the bathroom until the boys left.

Ford, now a 51-year-old research psychologist in California, told the Washington Post that in July she sent a letter to Democratic Representative Anna Eshoo about the incident but requested confidentiality at the time. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations.

Kennedy took direct aim at Senate Democrats for the timing of a letter that surfaced reportedly detailing sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh when he was a teenager, saying Sen.

At a high school house party, "He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing", Ford claimed, and said both Kavanaugh and a friend were extremely intoxicated during the incident, which happened when they were in high school.

Shortly after Feinstein's statement was released, White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec criticized the timing.

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 6, 2018.

Feinstein passed the letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation - with Ford's name redacted. "You're not going to be able to really test it, unless somebody comes forward with more information".

Questions swirled on Thursday when Feinstein declined to explain what information she was provided about Kavanaugh that she made a decision to share with authorities.

According to Ms. Ford, Mr. Judge then tried to climb on top of her, causing all three to spill over from the bed and giving her a chance to run from the room and eventually leave the house.

Kavanaugh's nomination by President Donald Trump has divided the Senate, with most Democrats opposing him and most Republicans supporting him.

John Dean, the Watergate whistleblower, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the final day of the Kavanaugh hearings.

Feinstein called on the FBI to investigate Ford's story "before the Senate moves forward on this nominee". She didn't say anything in the confirmation hearings.

But rumors of a letter from a woman who was harassed by Kavanaugh started circulating on Capitol Hill in recent weeks.

The committee is scheduled to vote on whether or not to move Kavanaugh's nomination forward on Thursday.

But her story leaked as it was reported Feinstein had the letter and was refusing to share it with her Democratic colleagues. Ford said, adding that she recalled thinking: "I'm not ever telling anyone this".
