NASA reveals ‘extremely dangerous’ Hurricane Florence pictures from space

Hurricane Florence, on its way across the Atlantic Ocean toward North Carolina, dominates photos and video from the International Space Station, where astronauts are using wide-angle lenses because of how far the storm extends.

"Get prepared on the East Coast, this is a no-kidding nightmare coming for you", he added.

Alexander Gerst, a German astronaut orbiting Earth from 250 miles (402 kilometres) up, has a warning for humans on the planet below him.

"#HurricaneFlorence this morning with Cape Hatteras #NorthCarolina in the foreground", Arnold wrote this morning. He said on Wednesday that the ISS's crew "is thinking of those who will be affected".

According to the forecast of meteorologists from the National centre for monitoring hurricanes, the US, South-East mainland territory of the country hurricane Florence will arrive on Thursday, September 13, and will hit the coast with wind speed above 230 km/h. Winds this morning reached 130 miles per hour (200 km/h) and will likely strengthen before it arrives, officials said.

The video tracks across the swirling clouds at the outer edges of the hurricane before passing over the eye. The NHC says the storm may push a "life-threatening" surge of seawater ashore into these and other areas.

The NASA astronaut Ricky Arnold has also been following the giant storm.

The high resolution camera of the global space station took the approach of a powerful hurricane on the East coast United States of America in the morning, September 12.

Astronaut Alexander Gerst also joined in the fun, explaining that the fearless space men and women need wide-lense cameras to take these incredible photos.

This photo shows what it looks like deep inside the eye of Hurricane Florence, a place of relative calm for such storms.
