The latest Pixel 3 leak came from the back of a Lyft

The latest Pixel 3 leak came from the back of a Lyft

A few days later, someone forgot a working Pixel 3 XL unit in a Lyft ride.

Google's next big smartphone launch is expected to happen early next month, but there's been yet another "leak" ahead of time.

Being referred to as the Anonymous Alligator for the objective of describing the leak, the phone turned out to be, much to Alligator's surprise, the Pixel 3 XL that is yet to be formally launched.

As you can see from the above photos, there isn't anything new to learn about the handset.

Back when two separate Apple employees lost possession of two prototype handsets in a span of a year, despite all the evidence to the contrary, some skeptical observers suspected that misplaced handsets was part of a publicity stunt. It looks a lot like the outgoing Pixel 2 XL, which is to say a little conservative and a little boring. According to rumors, Pixel 3 XL will get display with a diagonal of 6.2 inches or more, and smaller Pixel 3 - with 5.5-inch screen. The device is also said to have active edges, which will allow users to perform certain tasks simply by squeezing on the sides of the phone.

Google has not yet revealed when it will be showcasing the smartphone. Interestingly, while Google found the zeal to pack in a dual lens front camera, the rear continues with a single lens set up which defies the current trend where dual lens (or even more) is more in vogue at the moment. Notably, Android 9.0 Pie already has notch support and enables the interface to split the status bar into two sides - similar to how the notch-enabled iPhone X shows different status icons.

Considering the similarities between the fresh shots and the one that was allegedly showing the side of the Pixel 3 XL, the handset could now in a testing phase.

Google will reportedly launch the Pixel 3 series on October 9th in NY.
