Rain Suspends PGA Championship during Second Round

Rain Suspends PGA Championship during Second Round

The Show-Me State has been showing up big time for the PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club. Tied for sixth at 8-under par, Woods has his work cut out for him if he wants to catch leader Brooks Koepka, who sits four shots ahead at 12-under par. Across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Woods put together a career run through 54 holes.

Woods failed to convert on both, despite having given himself excellent chances. He added to his advantage at the par-3 16th, when he stuck his tee shot to inside seven feet of the hole, then drained the ensuing birdie putt. He missed the birdie putt, but was unfazed.

"The roars were pretty unbelievable", Thomas said of the fans. As every putt dropped, they registered it on the leaderboard at the 18th to send that area insane as well. "For me to make triple on 10, to give myself a little bit of confidence, I told myself I did the same thing in Phoenix".

Mickelson ended a streak of making 11 consecutive Ryder Cup teams on points, though he is likely to earn one of the four captain's selections when Furyk hands them out next month.

Woods certainly had no problem picking up shots in the final round a week later at the Arnold Palmer Invitational - a tournament he has won on eight occasions. He said there have been no physical issues since the week began with him taking ice baths to combat swelling.

It also tied the major championship record that Henrik Stenson set at Royal Troon two years ago in the British Open. "Tomorrow is going to be a long day for a lot of us".

And it started early, 7 a.m. local time.

McIlroy bogeyed the opening hole after flying his approach over the green and although he responded immediately with a birdie on the next, further dropped shots on the fourth and seventh saw him tumble down the leaderboard. John Rahm, Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland round out the top five at -9. "It's fun", Cink said. "Being in Tiger's group is always exciting. I hit the shot how I wanted to and just came up short". I'm getting a lot of KU and Mizzou people yelling back and forth. "Hearing the crowd, and Tiger's performing great, it was like turning back the hands of the clock".

Could Sunday in the PGA Championship be the day Tiger Woods breaks through with his first victory in a major since 2008?

And the round was solid, perhaps something to build on.

Being unable to score on the back nine has been a constant for Woods all week.

Tiger Woods continued to stay pace in contention, after he shot a 66 on Saturday. But there's no question what Woods will need to do.

Tiger just has to wait and see if he makes the squad.

Without hitting a fairway on the front nine, Woods cut the four-shot deficit to two.

"I feel like I've been doing all the right stuff, and I just haven't been doing it on the golf course". Watching Finau make all those birdies, Furyk "didn't say anything, but he was just shaking his head", Finau said.
