Celebrities offer Demi Lovato support after reports of hospitalization for apparent overdose

Singer Demi Lovato, who grew up in Grapevine, has been hospitalized in California after she suffered what appeared to be an overdose on heroin, according to multiple media outlets.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Demi was transported from a home located in the Hollywood Hills just before noon on Tuesday and is now being treated. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, but Stewart said she could not confirm the woman's condition or provide any additional details.

In the past, Lovato has spoken candidly in various interviews about her drug use and addiction to alcohol, as well as her struggle with an eating disorder.

Furthermore, in her documentary released last fall, titled Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, the star talked about her drug addiction and how she eventually decided it was time to seek help, saying: "I just came to a breaking point; the next 12 months were extremely hard".

While police didn't name the victim, TMZ and People identified the victim as Demi Lovato. "I promise I'll get help". Sometimes I'm not ideal with my recovery and my eating issues, but I keep fighting. "People think it's a breakup song", she said, "but it's actually kind of a breakup song with myself and my bad habits".

Lovato was in the final days of her current U.S. tour.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres added: "I love @DDLovato so much".

They most recently broke up due to their intense schedules and after realizing she needed to work on herself and that they were better off as friends. During what she describes as a two-month "bender" after a stint in rehab, she mixed cocaine and Xanax. She said she went straight to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting instead.

In February, Lovato told CBS News that her single, "Tell Me You Love Me" was actually about conquering her addiction as well.

TMZ, which broke the story, reports she was treated at the scene with Naloxone, an anti-overdose medication.
