Louisville evaluating Papa John’s stadium name

Louisville evaluating Papa John’s stadium name

The move came after John Schnatter, the pizza chain founder, admitted earlier this week that he used the "N-word" during an internal conference call.

In a radio interview with WHAS in Louisville on Friday, Schnatter said he was "just talking the way that the Colonel talked".

The pizza chain previously offered a deal in which fans could get 50 percent off their order the day after the Orioles scored five runs in a game.

- Papa John's pizza will no longer be sold at Target Field as the Minnesota Twins have cut ties with the company, according to Minnesota Twins officials. The incident also led to the end of Papa John's official National Football League sponsorship in February.

The University of Louisville, whose stadium Papa John's held the naming rights, has already announced it will remove the logo from the stadium.

Schnatter resigned from his company on July 12 after taking flack for using the n-word during a training session on workplace behavior. The Kansas City Royals also stepped away from Papa John's, as did the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. "Mr. Schnatter's derogatory and insensitive comments are not at all reflective of the values of our organization".

PJ Cheese, the owner of Papa John's locations throughout the Richmond, Hampton Roads and Charlottesville areas, is responding to the comments made by Papa John's worldwide founder, John Schnatter.

The baseball team joined several other MLB franchises to condemn Schnatter's comments and suspend promotions, saying the team does not "condone discrimination of any kind".

The incident prompted Papa John's marketing firm to break ties with the company, Forbes said.

However it manages its public image, Schnatter is still enmeshed in the company.

The 34-year-old pizza chain plans to hire an independent expert to audit all the company's processes, policies and systems related to diversity and inclusion, Chief Executive Steve Ritchie said in a statement.

"Our community has been fractured by the comments made by former U of L trustee John Schnatter", Bendapudi said. "Better Pizza. Papa John's" tagline in that spot. For the first three months of this year, Papa John's said a key sales figure fell 5.3 percent in North America.
