Neymar: Ridiculed for his theatrics, where does the Brazilian go from here?

Neymar: Ridiculed for his theatrics, where does the Brazilian go from here?

The Brazilian FA (CBF) wants to maintain Tite as head coach of the Brazilian national team until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar even though Brazil crashed out of the World Cup at the quarter-final stage following a 2-1 defeat against Belgium.

In fact, he spent most of his time in Russian Federation on the floor, diving and rolling all over the place in games in an attempt to con the referee.

The "Neymar challenge" has swept across social media as people try to imitate how they think the winger reacted to challenges during the World Cup.

He made this known on Instagram over the weekend, after Friday's 1-2 loss to Roberto Martinez's team.

The player, who is now on worldwide duty with Brazil's World Cup squad, is seen as a long term replacement for Michael Carrick and an ideal partner for Paul Pogba.

The Paris Saint-Germain player was regularly accused of attempting to trick referees by play-acting during the competition, drawing widespread condemnation from fans and former players.

Also striking: the final four teams are all European.

Brazil coach Tite defended his star man in Russian Federation, saying: "If you look, you will see how much he has been participating collectively - taking back the ball, taking up space".

The 25-year-old picked up an ankle injury in training prior to the tournament.

The 2018 World Cup was supposed to be redemption for Neymar and Brazil.

"Unfortunately our dream has been postponed, and it is very painful for all of us that after so much work and dedication on the part of each player, technical commission, and staff, there is vast pain", he wrote. There is an argument to say the Brazilian was put under enough pressure by Belgium to force this own goal but, in truth, it was the beginning of a poor display from the man chosen to replace the suspended Casemiro.

Neymar scored just two goals in the World Cup before Belgium sent them packing from the tournament. "I can't answer that question right now". I'm very happy to be part of this team, I'm proud of all the players.

When the tournament began, not many people predicted a final four consisting of France (No. 7 in Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings), Belgium (No. 3), England (No. 12) and Croatia (No. 20).

"It's great to be facing a team like France because they are very similar in terms of the individual talent they have".

He told the crowd: "I see a lot of Brazilian flags: Have courage!"
