Cristiano Ronaldo record is stat I have tournament record Asamoah Gyan

The Brazil worldwide who will start his Russian Federation 2018 World Cup campaign against Switzerland on Sunday, accepts he is still ranked below Ronaldo despite being the most expensive player.

The 33-year-old came to Russian Federation on the back of a storming finish to the club season with Madrid and he has now carried that on into the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo became the fourth player to score in four World Cups and stroked his chin as he ran in celebration after scoring the first of three goals against Spain on Friday.

Former Manchester United stalwart defender Rio Ferdinand knows a thing or two about Cristiano Ronaldo, having played with him for six years.

Ronaldo had twice put Portugal in front in Sochi, before Spain pegged them back on each occasion and then went ahead themselves through the striker's Real Madrid team-mate Nacho.

"I have said it so many times", Portugal coach Fernando Santos told reporters.

The 33-year-old admits a tough Group B opener against Spain on Friday is not ideal, but he remains confident the European champions will reach the knockout stages.

Spanish publication Don Balon say Ronaldo got wind of Mourinho's comments before the match and was keen to prove him wrong.

It is unlikely Ronaldo will serve any jail time as this is his first offense under Spanish law, and he will likely be allowed to serve probation, Reuters reported.

"To win the World Cup would be a dream for Portugal". And with matches against Morocco and Iran coming up, he is already in good position to contend for this year's "Golden Boot" trophy.

Ronaldo made brief remarks to a Federation Internationale de Football Association press officer after the game but left before media could ask questions about his legal problems.

The Real Madrid superstar will have a host of clubs keeping tabs on him this summer with his future in doubt in the Spanish capital.
