‘Confused’ Trump can’t decide whether he hates immigration bill

While speaking at the White House on Friday, President Donald Trump defended his administration amid criticism that it was separating immigrant families at the southern border.

United States authorities have separated about 2000 children from their migrant parents who illegally crossed the country's southern border over a recent six-week period. "If you don't like that, then don't smuggle children over our border". Among them, family-related visas for the married children or adult siblings of US citizens as well as the 55,000 visas now available under the diversity lottery system for immigrants from other represented countries, including many in Africa. A spokesman for the US Department of Homeland Security says the minors were held in decent conditions while the detained parents were awaiting adjudication and possible prosecution. "That's their law", he said, provoking an uproar from reporters.

"I think if we get that clarification, then I think we're still good to go", said Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Washington, one of the Republicans who had earlier considered forcing a series of immigration votes on the House floor against the wishes of GOP leaders.

"This bill hardly fulfills President Trump's bold promise to fix immigration, and sure isn't a winning message for the GOP in the midterms", Hauman said.

"I have not personally heard from one".

On Friday morning, Trump seemed to dismiss the measure.

In a six-week period from mid-April to the end of May, the Trump administration separated almost 2,000 children from their parents, the New York Times reported Friday.

DHS said between April 19 and May 31, there were 1,995 children separated from 1,940 adults at the southwest border.

President Donald Trump says he won't sign a "moderate" immigration bill written by House Republicans. Many members were desperate to believe that the President had either been referring to another bill or would reverse course later in the day - while conservatives cheered the President as rightfully demanding changes to the bill.

The president attempted to cast the blame away from his administration Friday morning, tweeting, "The Democrats are forcing the breakup of families at the Border with their disgusting and cruel legislative agenda".

Democrats fired back, with top House Democrat Nancy Pelosi calling the Republican proposal "simply unworthy of America".

The policy has sparked outrage among immigration advocates.

Trump stressed he opposes the separations.

"I hate to see separation of parents and children", Trump said.

Whereas angered protesters rallied at airports after Trump's first iteration of the Muslim-majority country travel ban, and internet users submitted public comments to the FCC supporting net neutrality, impeding the separation of families and holding the door open for vulnerable asylum-seeking immigrants feels far less actionable.

He also refuted the claim that agents were surreptitiously misleading children and parents in order to separate them, as well as one report which detailed a mother being separated from her child during breastfeeding.

Because the government is charging the parents in the criminal justice system, children are separated from them, with no clear procedure for their reunification aside from hotlines the parents can call to try to track their children down.
