Arizona Cardinals trade up for Josh Rosen at No. 10

Arizona Cardinals trade up for Josh Rosen at No. 10

The Cardinals' first-round draft pick, who was "pretty pissed off" at falling to 10th overall, didn't mean to denigrate all the players taken before him in the National Football League draft - just the quarterbacks.

During a post-draft news conference in Dallas, Rosen said "there were nine mistakes ahead of me".

With that in mind, and with quarterbacks still on the board, specifically Josh Rosen, the Raiders utilized the tenth pick and traded it to the Arizona Cardinals.

"I thought I should've been picked at 1, 2 or 3". One, two and three went through, and I was really pissed off.

"I looked up to Carson", Rosen said. Maybe their love for Smith and McGlinchey was just too big for them to stay at No. 10 and get a player they really did not want. "I am who I am, and I think that's why I'm very grateful to be an Arizona Cardinal because the team that picked me, they picked me". "My nose, particularly. I get, like, "Stay the f-- down, you Jewish bastard ..." Rosen said he "obviously" wants to be the starter for Arizona but won't disrupt the room and will support whoever gets the ball. As Rosen was handed the cell phone that relayed to him the fateful decision - his own phone didn't ring so Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim had to call his agent, Ryan Williams - a different emotion surfaced. "But I think everything happens for a reason".

The former Bruin, who was heralded as the most "NFL ready" QB in the draft had to wait to hear his name called after Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield (1st overall to the Cleveland Browns), USC's Sam Darnold (3rd overall to the New York Jets) and Wyoming's Josh Allen (7th overall to the Buffalo Bills). "And I will make sure over the next decade or so that they will know that they made a mistake".

"To be able to go from 15 to 10 and give up what we did, we were extremely comfortable with it", said Cardinals GM Steve Keim.

"Aaron literally texted me right before the pick", Rosen said. "I understand the situation".

For their part, however, Cardinals fans should be feeling as fired up about Rosen's comments as he was when he made them. Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon are both two wonderful quarterbacks. "Now I'm starting back at square zero, and hopefully I'm even better at it the second time around". "They're going to get a kid that everyone knows who they're getting every single day that I walk in the building".
