Snapchat Spectacles V2: Where to Buy, What Are the New Features

Snapchat Spectacles V2: Where to Buy, What Are the New Features

In terms of price, you can pick up a pair now for £149.99, which makes them £20 more than the first Specs.

Snapchat parent company Snap is giving the Spectacles experiment another go.

Furthermore, the new Spectacles are also capable of going underwater, allowing users to also capture their experiences in the water. Users will still need to import photos and videos from their "Memories", connect their device to a WiFi network, and wait for their content to download.

Snaps will only transfer in HD quality thanks to built-in WiFi, which transfers videos four times faster than the previous Specs.

While it may not seem like the design of Spectacles has changed with this new edition, Snap insists that it has. But the real improvements are in the functionality: not only are they waterproof, making them more practical, but they also now take photos as well as video.

Over the lifetime of the product, Snap sold just 220,000 units, the company says, eventually writing off unsold inventory worth nearly $40m.

Snap has now released the Snapchat Spectacles 2 - a wearable pair of glasses that serves as a follow-up to their first foray into the hardware field. More recently, Snap began hawking the smart sunglasses online at Spectacles.com, while Amazon.com began carrying the fancy eyewear for $129.99. Snap was reportedly able to reuse some of the parts in their unsold first generation Spectacles in the latest units.

Design-wise, the glasses are now slimmer (30% smaller) and more comfortable. Three new colors are available, onyx, ruby, and sapphire, with two different lenses per color variant. You can shoot about 70 videos and transfer them to your phone on a single charge. Those that are looking for a prescription version will be happy to know that now that is a possibility and will be offered through Lensabl for an additional $125. Now again Snapchat is trying their luck in the spectacles department by launching the V2 of the Spectacles.
