Tom Brady reportedly wants new contract before start of 2018 season

Tom Brady reportedly wants new contract before start of 2018 season

"There has been no official word that Tom Brady will be back for the 2018 season", Schefter said.

ESPN's Adam Schefter cited two people who left open the possibility that Brady would not play this year, though both said they believed he would return to action.

First, Brady said, "You know, I certainly hope so". But he is going to turn 41 years old, he did end the 2017 on a sour note and he did end his documentary in a fashion that might lead people to believe he won't play forever.

Not only is Brady coming back, which seemed to be not as clear to some, but he could possibly return with a new contract. While he didn't win his sixth Super Bowl, he was able to throw for over 500 yards in the game, as the Patriots losing wasn't his fault at all.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reported Wednesday that Brady already has a summer camp set up with his New England Patriots teammates.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported Brady's absence from the team and went out of his way to note that Brady was spending time with Guerrero. If there was a year where they might strike and grab Brady's replacement, this could be it. "I didn't like practicing in the snow, I didn't like practicing in the rain, but that was going to make us a better football team, and that was going to make me a better football player". Brady has previously expressed the desire to play into his mid-40s. In the event that the quarterback has a change of heart, it could be seen as a disaster for the Patriots dynasty. But when packaged together, perhaps with other picks from the second or third round, the Patriots have the necessary assets to trade up and find their new signal-caller of the future, should they deem it necessary. New England has the 23rd and 31st picks in the first round of next week's National Football League draft.
