Salman Khan leaves the Jodhpur Jail to return to Mumbai

Salman Khan leaves the Jodhpur Jail to return to Mumbai

The bail has been granted on a surety of Rs 50,000.

Khan, accompanied by bodyguard, Shera, landed at the General Aviation Terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai and drove straight to his home.

Meanwhile another Salman's defence counsel Hastimal Saraswat said that they are very confident that the actor will get bail today. Sisters Alvira and Arpita have been camping in Jodhpur since Thursday and will now get to possibly take Salman back to Mumbai by Saturday evening.

Carrying big garlanded posters of Khan, they also set off firecrackers and sang songs from his Bollywood movies as some of them chased his vehicle heading to the airport.

Throughout the multiple cases, eyewitnesses have stated they saw Khan firing a gun in October 1998. Tabu and Neelam both use just one name.

The Defence lawyers have argued that the witness is unreliable as she lives two kilometers away from where the blackbucks were killed. The actor has already spent two nights in the Jodhpur Central Jail since he was convicted in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case on Thursday.

Judge Joshi said during the trial, Khan had never misused any condition. Both the Khans are among the world's top 10 best-paid actors.

The 52-year-old Khan has starred in more than 90 Hindi-language films.

Other observers were more subdued, attributing Mr. Khan's success in fighting off legal difficulties over the years in part to his celebrity status.

The Bollywood actor's latest blockbuster, Tiger Zinda Hai (Tiger is alive) collected some $85m worldwide.

In another development, Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri, who had sentenced Khan to five years in jail, has also been replaced by another magistrate. The animals are granted the highest protection under the country's Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

While Salman was found guilty, the four co-stars and a local, Dushyant Singh, were acquitted.

But while his fans and producers of costly upcoming films may be relieved, Khan still faces a major courtroom drama.
