3 people from HP school arrested in CBSE paper leak case

3 people from HP school arrested in CBSE paper leak case

The CBSE academic unit at Rouse Avenue was alerted about the leak on March 26 when it received a blank envelope containing some sheets of handwritten answers of Economics paper, just few hours before the exam commenced.

Special investigation team officials said they questioned around 200 people and analysed over 20 WhatsApp groups to pin point the exact source of WhatsApp messages. The SIT found out that the Economics paper was leaked in handwritten format two days prior to the exam held on March 26.

The three - Rakesh Kumar, Amit Sharma and Ashok Kumar - all from DAV Centenary Public School in Una, were arrested by the crime branch after lengthy investigation and questioning, R P Upadhayay, special commissioner (crime) of police, said.

On 23rd of March, Rakesh along with a school clerk, named Amit Kumar and the school peon Ashok Kumar went to Union Bank of India and collected the question papers of Computer Science and Information Practices. The CBSE has reportedly said that it will not be conducting the re-exams.

The duo took out a copy of the economics paper and sent it to Rakesh Kumar via WhatsApp messaging application.

Delhi's Karkardooma court on April 1 sent three men arrested in connection with the CBSE paper leak to police custody. He also picked up a bundle of economics paper, Upadhayay said. We are trying to ascertain how many question papers Rakesh Kumar and his associates had leaked so far. The SIT has interrogated over seventy people, including "WhatsApp" admins, school teachers, ground staff, students and others in connection with the leak.

Shashi Tharoor also added that due to some miscreants other innocent students also suffered for it and if such things occur then it's the duty of the government to ensure that remedial steps should be taken earlier. The superintendent was also involved in the conspiracy, officials added. Rahul Antil, Rohit Vats, teachers at Mother Khazani Convent School, and a tutor identified as Tauqeer were arrested last Sunday.
