Stephen Fry reveals cancer

Stephen Fry reveals cancer

Surgeons also removed 11 lymph nodes during the early January operation. He assured fans and supporters that "as far as we know, it's all been got".

Angela Culhane, chief executive at Prostate Cancer UK, said: "Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men". You're not supposed to get cancer.

Fry, who recently starred on CBS comedy The Great Indoors, added, "Goodness knows I'm not the most important person in the world, but if you are ever on television and do things in the public eye people naturally exhibit a great interest in you".

Fry also thanked "my darling, darling husband" Elliott Spencer, who he said has been "just marvellous".

The 60-year-old made the announcement in a YouTube video published to his 13 million Twitter followers today after receiving a diagnosis at 'around Christmas time'. I have cancer. I know it's an old cliche but you don't think it will happen to you.

"It doesnt seem to have spread, because what you dont want is to spread from one area to another, but one of the lymph nodes had something that called for active surveillance".

"Get yourself checked and follow your doctor's advice", he urged.

STEPHEN FRY IS recovering from prostate cancer surgery.

If prostate cancer spreads to other parts of the body or breaks out of the prostate, symptoms can include back pain, hip pain or pelvis pain, problems getting or keeping an erection, blood in the urine or semen, and unexplained weight loss.

"Cancer, in the end, it's just a word that rings in your head", he said. They should be zero because I have no prostate, so the prostate specific antigen should be zero.

He explained that there is a chance of the disease coming back, but added that his doctors think the early intervention saved his life.

"It is crucial for every man to acknowledge the threat that prostate cancer can pose to his life".
