The Denver Nuggets dump Emmanuel Mudiay in exchange for experience

Emmanuel Mudiay #0 of the Denver Nuggets goes to the basket against the New York Knicks on October 30, 2017 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. In return, they'll snag Nuggets backup Emmanuel Mudiay.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Mudiay is heading to the Knicks with fellow point guard Devin Harris going to Denver. In the end, the Knicks will receive Mudiay, the Nuggets Devin Harris and a future second-round pick from the Knicks, while the Mavericks get a Nuggets second rounder and Doug McDermott from NY.

As part of the deal, the Mavericks agreed to send Devin Harris to Denver, and the Nuggets and Knicks exchanged second-round picks in the 2018 draft.

The Nuggets have been in dire need for a scoring punch since forward Paul Millsap was sidelined with a torn ligament in his left wrist and head coach Mike Malone has looked to keep his spark plug Will Barton coming off the bench, where he's more comfortable, but the starting unit has lacked the scoring needed to win games.

The 34-year-old Harris is averaging 8.5 points in 44 games this season.

McDermott averaged 7.2 points in 55 games for the Knicks. They got a veteran point guard who has seen better days and will provide about the same production as Mudiay did for the team.

The Nuggets acquire a veteran point guard in Devin Harris, playing in his 16th National Basketball Association season this year. However, with the Nuggets now sitting at the sixth seed in the Western conference and second year guard Jamaal Murray proving to be one of the more exciting young talents in the NBA, Nuggets management felt confident the could let go of Mudiay.
