Matt Patricia To The NY Giants Looking More and More Likely

Matt Patricia To The NY Giants Looking More and More Likely

It does, however, indicate a potential stumbling block that wasn't apparent as reports started to swirl suggesting things were heading in the direction of Patricia becoming the Lions next head coach. But a favorite has reportedly emerged through the interview process.

The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that "all signs are pointing to" the Giants hiring Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia as their new head coach.

Patricia reportedly had interviews with the Giants, Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals last week, but seems to favor NY, according to multiple sources.

"In terms of team building, I'm old fashioned".

A lot of people have speculated Patricia as the front runner to take over as the Lions next head coach, and now the New England Patriots are also planning on losing their highly-touted defensive coordinator to Detroit. He's won three Super Bowls with Belichick and company during his time with the team.

The Lions are a bit of a red-headed step child in the National Football League, and the Detroit Free Press has pointed out Patricia spurning them for another head coaching job would be nothing new.

It certainly looks like the New England Patriots will be losing their defensive coordinator.

If the Giants elect to hire Patricia, they will need to have a plan in place for offensive coordinator. Maybe, although there could be some issues at play for which the Lions could not overcome the Giants - such as proximity to family. In 2005, he became assistant offensive line coach before he moved to coaching linebackers from 2006 to 2010.

Patricia might be the right fit for the Giants, but fixing New York's offense has to remain a priority.

"The Giants are conducting their sixth and final interview with former Broncos RB coach Eric Studesville on Wednesday, but the feeling is Patricia and the Giants may have found themselves a ideal match, " the Daily News's Pat Leonard wrote.
