Trump Sings National Anthem, Forgets Words Despite Preaching Respect For It

President Donald Trump was in attendance at the national championship game, and some claim that footage of him during the Anthem proves that he does not know all of the words to "The Star-Spangled Banner". "We want our flag respected - and we want our NATIONAL ANTHEM respected also!"

Some say he appears to have gotten part of the anthem wrong too.

Monday night's National Anthem is earning recognition online and in the media - but not because of the Zac Brown Band's performance.

The president was reportedly greeted with a mixture of cheers and boos while taking the field. After a while, however, he appeared to lose track of the words, and began singing random words, with no concept of the song's tune.

Earlier Monday, the president repeated his call for the anthem to be respected.

Trump has criticised football players in the past for not treating the national anthem with sufficient respect.

The national anthem became a burning issue of the U.S. politics in September after Trump's severe criticism of NFL players kneeling during the song as a way to protest against violence towards black Americans.

"As a military veteran who has watched Trump, a coward who never served and received five draft deferments, slam Colin Kaepernick as unpatriotic for peacefully protesting, I am beyond livid that he doesn't know the words to the National Anthem", tweeted Charlotte Clymer, a former aide to Hillary Clinton. "Singing along wouldn't be easy for him". However, the Atlanta branch of the NAACP encouraged people attending the game to wear white and wave white towels to show their disagreement with Trump's policies and statements.

Later, Trump took to Twitter praising Pence for leaving the game.

This is the President of the #United States that we're talking about.

Before this, he had tweeted about how he was "a very stable genius" and "very smart".
