Jennifer Lawrence gets intense in full trailer for spy thriller Red Sparrow

Jennifer Lawrence gets intense in full trailer for spy thriller Red Sparrow

That's the tagline for Jennifer Lawrence's new action-packed thriller Red Sparrow, which is hitting theaters this spring. In an American accent: "We can't trust a word that comes out of her mouth", and "There's something else we're not seeing".

While the first trailer was more akin to a cryptic tone poem (and an excuse to parade Lawrence around in tight, form-fitting outfits), the second Red Sparrow trailer threatens to reveal the entire plot to the spy thriller film.

What do you think of this film, or of the new trailer? Her "soul", Jeremy Irons' General Vladimir Andreievich Korchnoi tells her, marking her compassion for others as her biggest weak link. When she makes contact with an American CIA agent (Joel Edgerton), her loyalties are tested and she must decide if she's truly a "sparrow" or her own woman.

Whether Red Sparrow can differentiate itself from its obvious fictional predecessors remains to be seen, especially since the project seems extremely indebted to Marvel's preexisting character (who was even trained in a "red room"!). "To see her transform in a fearless way and truly push herself into a new territory has been one of the most exciting things about this project". "A master of seductive and manipulative combat".

In the above clip, Lawrence's heroine is compelled to become a Soviet spy to save her mother - a job that involves her having to repeatedly take off her clothes and use sex to deal with her targets. Lawrence portrays a former Russian ballerina forced into a Russian intelligence program in order to get her mother medical care.

Dominika endures a perverse and sadistic training process, and emerges as the most risky, seductive and manipulative Sparrow the program has ever produced.
