Korea refutes USA media reports on biological weapons programme

Japan's Asahi newspaper reported South Korean intelligence sources were concerned the North Korea were finding new ways to use their estimated 2,500 and 5,000 tons of chemical weapons.

The Director of Press of the Institute for American Studies of North Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that such accusation is another example of the United States habit to pander fiction as "truth", Xinhua news agency reported.

The terrifying revelations come a day after the White House published its National Security Strategy, a document that said Pyongyang is "pursuing chemical and biological weapons which could also be delivered by missile".

The report cited by Bloomberg News says the North is testing the biological agent to see if it can survive the huge temperatures the missiles generate. Russian Federation and China, while condemning Kim's missile launches, have attempted also to rein in the North Korean leader through dialogue.

According to the Asahi report, the United States has known about North Korea's anthrax research for a while.

When an intercontinental ballistic missile reenters the earth's atmosphere, it could reach about 7000 degrees of heat.

It was the highest-profile cyberattack North Korea has been blamed for since the 2014 hack of Sony Pictures after it produced "The Interview", a satirical movie imagining a Central Intelligence Agency plot to kill leader Kim Jong Un.

A spokesperson for South Korean President Moon Jae-in said the proposed delay was "confined to our efforts to host a peaceful Olympics".

In November, Kim Jong-un said a ballistic missile launch demonstrated his regime's ability to strike anywhere in USA territory with a nuclear-loaded missile, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the hermit kingdom's state news outlet.

The DPRK is the abbreviation for North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

North Korea sees the regular joint exercises as preparation for war. Both proposed an agreement whereby North Korea stops missile tests, and Washington and Seoul halt all military exercises, which North Korea deems provocative.

Anthrax spores have been used as a biological warfare weapon. At South Korea's National Assembly inspection in October, it was revealed that the South Korean presidential Blue House, had, in June, sent a request to the Korean Food and Drug Administration to prepare 500 vaccines staffers who might be exposed to anthrax-related terrorism.

Third, although North Korea does have an biological weapons program, it's been eclipsed by the country's nuclear program.
