Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery coming to mobile

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery coming to mobile

The new title will be the first of its kind in Harry Potter video games, allowing players to create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student. It's not clear what the time frame on the game will be, although playing in a post-Deathly Hallows Hogwarts could be interesting. The web-based app used the text of Rowling's books and came up with the most common word phrases a team of real-live human muggles then cherry picked fragments from to create a collaborative new story in the Potter universe.

"Hogwarts Mystery is a mobile gaming experience inspired by J.K. Rowling's spell-binding lore, and it will be an exciting way for fans to experience the Wizarding World", said Davis Haddad, president of Warner Bros. While Warner Bros and Portkey Games (the HP-focused game label) are keeping their cards close to their chests right now, there are scarce details that give us an idea about what to expect. But what Potterheads will probably never see, sadly, is an eighth installment of the original book series.

The site reports that the game will take place before the events of the Harry Potter books and movies. So far, nothing much is known about "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" except that it will be arriving this coming spring.

Previous games Jam City has developed include Cookie Jam, Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, Futurama Worlds of Tomorrow, and Marvel Avengers Academy.

But sometimes the lovely guessing games our phones play with our messaging can yield something attractive, in this case a Harry Potter chapter written entirely using predictive text. In 2018, the studio will release the second of five planned Fantastic Beasts spinoffs. With the help of their own own digital Polyjuice Potion, the creative geniuses at Botnick Studios transformed themselves into J.K. Rowling and created a new Harry Potter chapter written by bots. The result is a somewhat nonsensical, but also totally plausible story in which Harry, Ron and Hermione sneak up on a gang of Death Eaters in Hogwarts, challenge them to battle, and end up saying some very weird things to one another.

It's hard to imagine one Death Eater kissing another one on the cheek while more of Voldemort's supporters gather around them and applaud - unless you're a computer.
